McDonald's has released a statement following rumours that it will be reopening 'mid-May'. And it looks like it's bad news if you were hoping to get your Big Mac fix anytime soon.

Various reports claimed the Golden Arches would be back open for business in a few weeks, but now McDonald's have said it has 'no confirmed reopening plans at this time'.

Yesterday, a number of outlets reported McDonald's would be reopening for Drive-Thru and delivery, following fellow fast food chains KFC, Burger King and Five Guys.

However, it seems like McDonald's won't be following suit, taking to Twitter to say: "Well, our notifications are going wild tonight - we miss you too. We promise we will update you here as soon as we have confirmed our plans. Stay safe, stay at home and we will see you soon."

When one follower shared a screenshot of a headline claiming it would be reopening next month, the account responded: "We have no confirmed reopening plans at this time." Sorry guys.

Last week, KFC announced it was reopening 11 of its restaurants for takeaway orders, serving a limited menu. A spokesperson said KFC was looking into reopening others, but only if it was considered safe to do so.

A KFC spokesperson told LADbible: "Over the last week, we've reopened 11 of our restaurants in the UK. They're open for delivery only and are serving a limited menu, operated by fewer team members with new procedures in place to help ensure we're following social distancing guidelines.

For those missing out on their fast-food favourites, you can always have a go at throwing together your own versions at home.

In recent weeks we've seen a plethora of budding chefs using their lockdown time wisely by recreating everything from KFC's signature chicken, a Big Mac and McDonald's Cheese Melt Dippers.

One couple even set up a whole DIY Gregg's in their living room - stocked with authentic products based on actual recipes from Britain's favourite bakery.
