McDonald's issue fresh statement as fans demand return of loved sandwich

McDonald's fans are a fierce bunch when it comes to items being added and removed from its menu.

The menu is, naturally, limited. We're talking fast food and a fast-paced production line, so there's nothing too fancy about it.

However, just this week, Maccies announced the return of one of its beloved breakfast items.

The Breakfast Wrap is making a return to the famous yellow arches. It comes after a grand total of 22 official petitions were launched to bring it back.

McDonald's cut the wrap from its menu back in 2020 at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

But it's now back as of Wednesday 7 February for a limited time, and includes a pork sausage patty, two round free-range eggs, and a slice of bacon.

It's also comes filled with a crispy potato rosti and cheese, and is served in a tortilla wrap with a choice of either tomato ketchup or brown sauce.

The wrap on its own will set you back £4.39. It's £5.89 for a meal that comes with a drink and a hash brown.

The announcement had people buzzing, but also clamouring for other past gems to become available - and quickly.

One such item is the McRib. The glorious, glorious McRib.

Labelled as 'sandwich perfection' by Maccies fans, it is a seasoned boneless pork rib dipped in a tangy BBQ sauce, topped with slivered onions and tangy pickles, all served on a toasted homestyle bun.

Oh, we are so back.
McDonald's UK

The McRib was first sold in 1981, and remained there until 1985.

Then, in 2015, it made a triumphant return - albeit for just five weeks. And in November 2023, it made another outing on what was labelled a 'farewell tour'.

After the Breakfast Wrap announcement, fans are demanding it come back again, with some gutted to see the announcement wasn't the McRib.

One said: "F**k sake, just bring back the McRib."

Another posted "building it up to make you think it’s the McRib and it’s a breakfast wrap," alongside a gif of Ronald McDonald crying.

A third added: "YOU MADE ME BELIEVE THIS WAS GOING TO BE THE MCRIB. F**k your stupid wrap."

The McRib.
McDonald's.

On the disappearance of the McRib, the Maccies website reads: "The reason for this is that the McRib patty is made from ground pork and, in the UK, we consider it important to separate pork and beef on the grill.

"Unfortunately, many of our restaurants do not have enough grill capacity to cook pork and beef products at the same time.

"The breakfast menu is different because we don't serve beef products, which allows us to have a dedicated grill for all our delicious pork products."

Sadly, there are no plans to bring it back again any time soon - even for a limited run.

Following the Breakfast Wrap announcement, a McDonald's spokesperson told LADbible: "McDonald’s currently have no plans to bring back the McRib, however, we will let you know if this changes."
