A man has spent almost 18 months perfecting his own version of KFC's secret recipe - and he now reckons he's got it spot on.

As we head towards the end of our second week in lockdown, it's fair to say most of us are missing a few things we previously took for granted - and I don't just mean being able to see your loved ones or go outside whenever you want, I'm talking about enjoying a pint in a pub or a trip to your favourite fast food restaurant.

Thankfully, if it's KFC you're craving then Dan Fell has your back.

Fried chicken fan Dan has spent nearly a year and a half working on different recipes and variations before nailing it. Now, during these KFC-less times, he's shared the results with the world.

Dan shared some photos of his chicken creations and, to be fair, they do look pretty bloody delicious.

In a clip, which has been 'liked' almost 1,500 times, Dan reveals his KFC recipe, which includes five cups of plain flour, four tablespoons of paprika, two tablespoons of white pepper and garlic powder, one tablespoon of ground ginger, mustard powder, celery salt and black pepper, half a tablespoon of oregano and thyme and one-third of a tablespoon of sea salt.

Once the flour and seasonings are added together, he uses three parts of the mix to one part of self-raising flour, before giving the chicken an egg wash and rolling it in the seasoning before frying it in hot oil (162.5C, to be exact) for five to six minutes, popping it in a pre-heated 80C oven for batch cooking and then giving a final 90-second fry before serving.

Yes, it sounds like a lot of work, but let's be honest, we've all got a lot more time on our hands right now, haven't we?

Posting on Twitter, he explained that the flavour is dependent on a number of factors, including temperature of chicken, the oil used and even the temperature of the egg wash. However, he says after months of trying, this version has a four-in-five strike rate on the 'mate you really cannot tell the difference' scale. Sounds good to me.

Can you work on a Turkey Twizzler recipe next, Dan? Ta.
