Many of you will remember the almighty Wagon Wheel not as the revolving circular object attached to your humble horse-drawn cart, but as the delicious chocolatey highlight of your lunchbox.

It remains one of the nation's favourite chocolate bars, with its website saying 125 million of them are consumed each year in the UK.

Well, now Burton's Biscuit Co. has launched a brand new orange flavour edition of the beloved chocolate biscuit, and it sounds like an exciting upgrade.

Tapping into our current obsession for all things chocolate orange, Wagon Wheels Orange sees the popular chocolate and marshmallow sandwich biscuit injected with 'tangy orange jam' inside - much like the Jammie version, which is raspberry flavour.

They will be available to buy in six-packs from this month, and cost just £1 (manufacturer's suggested retail price).

Kate Needham, Burton's Biscuit Co.'s Marketing Director, said: "Not only has our well known hit of raspberry jam been swapped for a bold and tangy orange jam, but we've used real orange oil as well in the biscuit recipe to ensure the flavour is delivered in every bite.

"Significantly, orange variants over index with Wagon Wheels' core family audience who are looking for great value, satisfying snacks, with distinctive and tasty flavours."

Cadbury also recently jumped on the bandwagon, having released new orange-flavoured versions of its Dairy Milk chocolate buttons and fingers last month.

In a statement, Cadbury said: "It's true! For the first time ever, our fans can now enjoy Cadbury Dairy Milk Orange Giant Buttons and Cadbury Dairy Milk Orange Fingers.

"The new range is currently available in Londis and Budgens stores. The range will be available in One Stop stores from mid-August and in Tesco from September. Watch this space for more information as we get closer to the launch."

Oh, and then there's also the return of the limited edition Twirl Orange, which went on pre-sale (!!) on Twitter a couple of weeks ago.

If you missed out on one of the 5,000 bars on offer, thankfully they'll be available in stores across the UK from mid-September.

Radhika Pai, Brand Manager for Cadbury at Mondelez said: "We are very excited to bring limited-edition Twirl Orange back in the UK after the positive response it received last year."
