Gemma Collins left in tears after visiting the place where Jesus was born

A trip to the religious site proved overwhelming for the former The Only Way Is Essex star.

Gemma Collins became overwhelmed by the presence of Jesus that she burst into tears at the supposed birthplace of the Son of God.

The 41-year-old is currently on holiday in Israel and has been sharing her adventures with her social media followers.

The former The Only Way Is Essex star revealed her New Year's resolution is to take more 'spiritual journeys in 2023', and boy, she's going strong right out of the gate.

Seriously, we're only a few days into the new year and she's already hit up Jesus' birthplace in Bethlehem.

No one has ever accused her of doing things in halves, admittedly.

The British media personality wiped tears from her face as she told her followers what it was like to visit the holy monument.

"I can’t believe I’ve been so unbelievably lucky to have been where baby Jesus was born and touched the spot," she said via her Instagram post.

"The feeling of this was like nothing I’ve ever felt before. I can't even describe what I felt at that moment. I was totally blown away."

But, in her typical no-holds-barred style, she went into further detail.

"I am in the church in Bethlehem. I've got tears rolling down my face. This is the most breathtaking, unreal experience in my life," she said.

"The feeling here you cannot describe and it is just overwhelming. I hope everyone gets to experience this once in their life.

"The feeling in here... the hairs stand on their end."

She added: "I'm breathless. It is just so beautiful."

Images show her touching the 12-pointed star where the holy baby is believed to have laid his wee head.

Fans of the British media personality flooded the comments section with their own travel experiences to the religious site.

One user said: "So I was lucky enough to visit Bethlehem and touch the birthplace of Jesus, also the top of the cross also.it was the most spiritual feeling I've ever had and I've never forgotten that trip of a lifetime."

A second added: "I felt the same when I went there. After visiting, we prayed for children and it happened. It's amazing."

Others called for her to acknowledge the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with many commenting 'free Palestine' and 'end the Apartheid'.

One user has a suggestion for the English TV personality: "Any awareness towards the Palestinian people whilst holidaying on their land would be great."
