Pubs across UK offer free pints for punters with one of 50 surnames

If you have one of these 50 last names, then you can get your hands on a free pint.

The Fifa World Cup kicks off in Qatar today (20 November) and is running until 18 December.

And if you thought things couldn't get more exciting that a World Cup at Christmas, it turns out that free pints are on offer at the Greene King.

Yep, your favourite local pub could well be welcoming you with a cool pint to cheer on your country — but there's just one catch, your name has to be on a list.

Look, we didn't say everyone would be happy but things taste better when they're free and Greene King knows that.

So, how do you get your free pint? Well, you just need to share a last name with one of the England squad.

Under the scheme, those fortunate enough to have a qualifying last name can get a free pint/bottle of Ice Breaker Pale Ale or a soft drink.

The offer will be available at over 800 participating pubs and is sure to draw a crowd.

Just remember to take some photo ID and show it during a live group game for England or Wales to grab your drink.

Greene King is set to play all England and Wales matches during the event.

And knowing that they're on to a winner, Head of Marketing Chris Conchie said: "Any international football tournament is a major event for fans, and since the success of the Lionesses earlier this year, all eyes are on the men’s teams this winter.

And to be honest, it is a pretty great idea because the hardest decision over the next few weeks is working out where to watch the game.

And for anyone not clued in with who exactly is in the England squad this year, the list includes: Allen, Ampadu, Bale, Bellingham, Cabango, Coady, Colwill, Davies, Dier, Foden, Gallagher, Grealish, Gunter, Harris, Henderson, James, Johnson, Kane, Levitt, Lockyer, Maddison, Maguire, Mepham, Moore, Morrell, Mount, Phillips, Pickford, Pope, Ramsdale Alexander-Arnold, Ramsey, Rashford, Rice, Roberts, Rodon, Saka, Shaw, Smith, Sterling, Stones, Thomas, Trippier, Walker, Ward, White, Williams, Wilson, Wilson, and Hennessey.
