Man warns JustEat customers after he's charged £249 for Greggs delivery

It's a bit much for a Greggs, if you ask me

We all love a Greggs, but would you pay nearly £250 for your order there? Well, this is what one man faced as he was charged £249 for a delivery from Greggs via JustEat.

Liam Halewood, 36, has now issued a warning to customers of the delivery service app after his order from the bakery chain had an extortionate fee added to it in the name of an extra charge.

On the app, Liam ordered a Sausage, Bean & Cheese Melt, a Hot Sandwich Meal Deal, a four-pack of cookies and a pack of Walkers Cheese & Onion Crisps, which came to a typical £11.80 before the pricey fee was added on top.

The professional Boy George impersonator headed to social media and shared a screenshot of his receipt to warn others to check their bank accounts after he made an order with JustEat.

He tweeted: “Wow, is this a joke? £249 for delivery, behave. Come get the money back in the bank, I know it’s probably an oversight but £249 what the hell?”

He also told the Liverpool Echo about the ordeal, recalling: "I ordered the food and then it got taken out of my bank showing £249 for the delivery."

Liam also explained how he noticed that others were complaining about a similar issue of being overcharged: "One said it was costing them £900 and another said it was going to cost them £399 for the delivery charges."

He continued: “I think JustEat has had a glitch in its system, which to be honest for a big company shouldn't happen really.

"If someone didn't check their statement and that money got taken out they say you only have like 24 hours to rectify any order that you have made."

The singer, who is Blackpool-based but hails from Allerton, Liverpool, said the food delivery company has now rectified the bill.

A JustEat spokesperson confirmed to LADbible that an ‘issue’ on the site was to blame for the monetary mistake.

They told us: "We're aware of an issue on our platform that briefly affected the price of delivery orders for a very small percentage of our customers.

Greggs are now 'in the process of offering a full refund for all customers affected,' a representative stated.

“This issue is now completely resolved and we are in the process of offering a full refund for all customers affected."

The brand also sent a goodwill voucher to all customers that were affected by the glitch.

Elsewhere in food and drink news, a honeymooning couple were left regretting their meal after being slapped with what they claim to be a 400 euro bill for a 'quick snack' and a few drinks.
