A husband has said his wife was left fighting for her life after her BBL surgery went wrong.
Brazilian bum lifts are one of the more popular cosmetic surgeries people can get, but they are also one of the most dangerous, with some proving to be fatal.
The procedure essentially sees fat taken from areas of the body, such as thighs or stomach via liposuction, and then injected into the buttocks, with the aim of achieving a bigger behind.
But the surgery isn't without its risks and could even cost you your life in the event of a pulmonary embolism, which occurs when the injected fat enters a blood vessel and travels to the lungs, blocking blood flow.

Daidys Pena Garces, a 50-year-old woman from Brazil, underwent the surgery in Florida back in 2023, but her husband claims she wasn't warned about the health risks associated with the procedure, while the surgeon who carried it out was allegedly not qualified as a plastic surgeon.

A month after the surgery, Daidys was hospitalised due to a pulmonary embolism and was left fighting for her life. While she survived, she is no longer able to walk or talk, with her husband Jorge Fernandez thrust into the role of her full-time carer.
Fernandez has now filed a lawsuit against the spa where the surgery was carried out, as well as the doctor, who he claims was a general surgeon, not a qualified plastic surgeon.
Speaking of his wife, he said: "She was my first, like my first love... [Now] she [will never] talk or walk or eat by herself."

He's also launched a fundraiser to help with the medical bills and ongoing treatments that his wife needs to stay alive.
The page reads: "Daidys required emergency medical care and was hospitalised for seven months due to the pulmonary embolism...
"Now, Daidys is unable to perform any activities of daily living without assistance. Along with facing an extended recovery process, she is now burdened with growing medical bills and ongoing treatments."

Lavenia Santos, Fernandez's attorney, clarified more details about the lawsuit, saying: "This pulmonary embolism occurred because of this surgery... Garces would not have undergone the high-risk plastic surgery procedure had she known that the surgeon was not a trained and board-certified plastic surgeon.

"The woman has no idea that she is not being cared for by a board-certified plastic surgeon. That's just wrong. If the public knew that, they probably not be so willing to go, regardless of price. What happened to her shouldn't happen to anyone."
The risks with BBL surgery are clear, with one mum from Manchester issuing a warning after her daughter was left '10 minutes from death' following the procedure earlier this year.
