A bizarre new penis enlargement trend is going viral without people understanding the associated risks.
You might have seen the term 'jelqing' floating about on Reddit, as users claim it actually increases the size of your willy.
However, a content creator claiming to be a 'real US medical doctor' has issued an urgent warning to those who want to make their d**k bigger.
A YouTuber who goes only by 'Hink' on social media, is considered to be somewhat of a 'penis influencer' from sharing advice on how to grow your johnson online.

In a recent video, he explains - while wearing a Rey Mysterio mask - what jelqing is and what can go wrong if you try it out without doing your research.
What is jelqing?

The influencer, who doesn't provide official medical advice and urges viewers to go and speak to a doctor for any health-related queries, explained that jelqing involves gripping your penis in a certain way, and applying different levels of pressure to make it bigger.
“Jelqing is basically a principle where you get your D in a semi-erect state, make an ‘okay’ grip at the bottom, and gradually move it towards the top, exposing it to different higher levels of pressure,” he said.
“Supposedly, this creates micro tears in the tissue. Your body heals them bigger, like muscle building. Yeah, but the penis is not a muscle. It’s an organ.”
The idea is that this motion increases blood pressure within the penis to stretch and 'grow' it over time.
What the science says about jelqing

While Hink does believe that jelqing might have worked for some people, there is no scientific evidence to back it up.
“This jelqing has zero scientific evidence. Not a little evidence—zero,” he noted.
“The Sexual Medicine Society of North America looked at this. Major urological associations looked at this. Nothing. No peer-reviewed studies. No mechanism that actually works.”
Jelqing causes 'real complications'

Hink says that when people try jelqing when their penis is fully erect, it can lead to all sorts of problems.
“Jelqing is done in the half-erect state. Guys, you’re just one step away from disaster,” the YouTuber says.
“They jel and poof—complete shutdown of the penis. Erections gone for good.”
He explains that jelqing 'causes micro tears, not growth' and can actually 'trigger scarring'.
“Case reports from major urology centers document men developing erectile dysfunction from jelqing,” Hink adds.
“We’ve documented Peyronie’s disease linked to jelqing. That’s penile curvature and fibrosis.
“These aren’t theoretical risks. These are real complications in real patients.”
