A doctor has revealed if shaving your pubic hair makes you more hygienic.
It's an odd topic of conversation but one that is highly debated because, let's be honest, everyone's got a preference, for whatever reason.
Hair in people's private regions start to bloom as they approach their teenage years, with each individual having a different amount due to factors such as genetics. Their primary health purpose is to keep you warm and moisturised, so you wonder why some people prefer either themselves or their partners to be clean shaven downstairs.
Maybe it's for the sake of appearance, but Dr Jen Caudle, known for her health content on social media, has revealed if letting it grow au naturel will make you 'unclean' or not.

Speaking in a YouTube video, the content creator explained a number of 'theories' behind why we have pubic hair in the first place, and if we should shave it or not.
While it helps to protect against friction, dust, dirt, and germs, it can also be a breeding ground for cases such as pubic lice or even crabs.
The American health expert explained that many think that crabs is spread sexually, but the harrowing truth is that it can be spread from person to person through physical contact.
She even theorised that pubic hair could play a role in sex, by trapping feel-good pheromones, but this hasn't been proven by science - a lot more people would let the bush grow freely if this was the case.
But Dr Caudle then opened up on the prospect of going clean-shaven: "There's a lot of pressure these days to do that, it tends to be the rage - people are waxing, they're shaving, they're lasering ,they're doing all sorts of things."

She noted that some do it for their partners, or that 'some people feel that they are actually cleaner without pubic hair'.
The doctor revealed: "Let me tell you that you are not less clean because you have pubic hair, it's natural, it is what our body has been given.
"Just like we have hair on our head, we have hair in our underarms, hair in our legs, we have hair in our pubic area, so it does not make you unclean and it is not unnatural, you are not dirty if you have pubic hair."
Obviously, keep showering and cleaning the region when you shower - like other hair on the body, it isn't self-cleaning.

She advised that you do what 'makes you happy', as she isn't a big fan of partners 'putting a lot of pressure' on their other partner to look a certain way.
"While it may seem that everyone is out there just shaving and waxing and lasering, not everyone is and if you would like to keep your pubic hair by all means go ahead and keep it," the expert said.
