Cutting back or stopping alcohol can improve your mental and physical health.
A lot of people in the UK took part on Stoptober last month, where they gave up drinking for the month to see how it impacts their health.
The national campaign has been around for years, and for some, this leads to lifelong lifestyle changes.
However, most people will go back to drinking, just like they do after Dry January.

Sadly, this can cause so many health issues in the long run, like obesity, diabetes, heart disease, the risk of having a heart attacks, and so much more (per the NHS).
But if you choose to quit or cut down, you can see your health improve in no time at all.
According to the Queensland Government in Australia, when you quit, your body goes through an amazing transformation.
Putting up a simulation explainer video on YouTube, the gov talked about all the amazing things you can expect to see when you cut booze out of your life.

For instance, ‘alcohol related fast or irregular heart will return to normal within the first month’, allowing you to get back to have a regular heart rate.
Then, in just three weeks, your gut barrier function will heal completely, good gut bacteria starts to increase and toxins decrease.
After quitting alcohol, inflammation reduces in your liver, ‘as does your risk of fatty liver disease, and alcoholic liver disease’.
But here’s one you might be surprised by.
Quitting alcohol can actually improve your bones, restoring brittle bones within five years.
The Queensland gov shared that ‘bone turnover’ can happen just by cutting booze out of your diet.
Dr Suzanne Wylie, GP and medical expert at IQdoctor, previously provided us with a week-by-week break down of what can happen to our bodies when we take part in Dry January.
She told the Standard: “Even at moderate levels, alcohol can contribute to poor sleep, low mood, weight gain, raised blood pressure, and an increased long-term risk of conditions such as liver disease, heart disease and certain cancers, so abstaining for a month, you give your body and mind a valuable break, while also helping to reset your relationship with alcohol."
She shared how the first week without alcohol will be great for your mood, as she said: “As a result, many people report less morning grogginess, steadier energy, and a general lift in concentration.
"Hydration also improves as alcohol is a diuretic, so you may notice less bloating and clearer skin within days."
After a couple of weeks, your cardiovascular risk lowers, and your mood improves.
Dr Wylie said: "Alcohol can cloud thinking and lower mood, so after a few weeks off, people often describe a sense of improved focus, better memory, and less anxiety."
According to Dr Wylie, 'blood pressure may start to reduce, particularly in those who were drinking most days. This also helps lower your overall cardiovascular risk'.
There’s actually a lot more quitting alcohol can benefit your body, all you need to do is put down the bottle to find out.
