It seems remarkable in a housing crisis that there could be a town that was originally planned to house over 10,000 residents but is now home to nobody at all, but that's exactly the case with a small town in Wales.
While the £80 billion ghost city in Malaysia is still perfectly maintained despite being almost empty, Llandarcy is closer to post-apocalyptic horror movie 28 Years Later.
Remarkably, as recently as 2013, King Charles, who was the Prince of Wales at the time, took the time to go and visit the hamlet to see how progress was coming along, but the project was mysteriously abandoned not long after.
Filmmaker Jay Curtis recently stopped by with a drone to see exactly what came of the village, with it still unclear what exactly saw the project scrapped.

He told The Sun: “It’s like a village that time forgot. It just looked completely abandoned.
“The only thing I can compare it to is an apocalyptic film – like something you’d stumble across in a Hollywood movie.
“At one stage I thought maybe it was a film set because Wales has a lot of filming going on at the moment.
“It was only until I got a bit closer with the drone that I realised it was a fully-fledged hamlet of houses with garages with electricity and lighting.”

In the end, just 294 homes were built, with the roads never connected, and plenty of theories have been thrown around as to exactly why that is.
Suggestions include oil contamination and unstable land, but landowners and the local authority have always remained tight-lipped about the reason behind its failure.
Jay added: “There’s no real clear answer, that’s what baffles most people.
“To have that level of hype, a royal visit, and such ambition – and then to see it all just left – it amazes people.
“These are big, expensive homes. There are a lot of them. And no-one ever moved in.”

Hopes were high that the village, which is located in the Neath Port Talbot county borough, but now it represents a shadow of what it could have been.
And if it wasn't mysterious enough, there have been plenty of reports about cars coming and going at night time, which could suggest something fishy is going on.
Still, even if it's completely abandoned, I wouldn't mind a free house if the folks in charge are simply giving them away.
