Here's how to make a Negroni Sbagliato with Prosecco

Here's how to make a Negroni Sbagliato with Prosecco

It's the drink that's on everyone's lips thanks to House of the Dragon star Emma D'Arcy.

A viral TikTok is going around of Olivia Cooke, from HBO’s House of the Dragon, asking fellow co-star Emma D’Arcy what their favourite drink is.

“A Negroni..." D'Arcy replied. “Sbagliato...with Prosecco in it.”

Having become a meme, people have latched onto D’Arcy’s manner of speech and pronunciation.

Unlike D’Arcy’s pronunciation, with a hard 'g' in the centre, the proper Italian pronunciation is 'ṣba·glià·to', and is enunciated with a silent 'g'.

“I feel so embarrassed,” Emma spoke later. “Because in those interviews, when we’ve been at it for six hours, I’m honestly only trying to make Olivia laugh.”

Garnering over 15.6 million views on TikTok, D’Arcy has embraced their role as a meme.

“I keep thinking I should tell my mum that I’ve become a meme in the hope that she’ll be happy for me,” Emma said.

“But I’d have to explain what a meme is, and I’ve decided it’s too much effort.”

The drink, sometimes translated to a ‘mistaken Negroni’ is a Negroni with Prosecco in place of the traditional gin and carbonated water.

Search results for Negroni Sbagliato have skyrocketed, with fans wanting to know just what this fascinating, alluring drink is and how to make it.
