There's a new drive-thru restaurant opened in Bolton - but instead of the usual McDonald's or KFC, this time, it's Indian street food.

Chaiiwala has opened its doors on Manchester Road in Bolton, after first being founded in New Delhi.

It's the first Indian restaurant drive-thru in the UK, selling traditional food both sweet and savoury.

Diners can enjoy breakfast and lunch snacks such as an all-day Desi Breakfast and Sweet Bombay Toast, meanwhile there's street food dishes such as the Aloo Tikki Burgers, a Chilli Chip Butty, Chilli Paneer and Mumbai Mac 'n' Cheese.

There's also heaps of drinks and desserts too, such as sweet wraps, cheesecakes, sundaes and chai lattes.

The restaurant also serves one of Chaiiwala's most popular drinks Karak Chaii, which is a strong tea.

Co-founder Sohail Ali told The Bolton News: “This is extremely exciting news for Bolton and the UK in general as this is the first time the Chaiiwala brand has been created as a drive-thru concept.

“This is a totally new experience for our valued customers and the first time they can experience our Indian street food in a drive-thru setting.

“This is the first time we have offered this concept and are delighted with the results."

It's the first in the UK.

Sohail added: “Using this blueprint we are now actively searching for new drive-thru locations across the UK which will replicate the Bolton store model.

“We have built the Chaiiwala brand on a mixture of providing original Indian street food with the best customer service, with the aim of providing a unique experience.

“Our drive-thru concept will allow customers to experience our products in a faster format while also having the ability to visit the store.

Diners can enjoy food all day long.

“This has proved extremely successful and popular with our customers so far and a model we are actively pursuing for new stores across the UK.”

The restaurant has a number of different locations across the UK, but the Manchester Road store in Bolton is currently the only drive-thru location.

Following the opening of the drive-thru, visitors have been calling for the restaurant to open more restaurants.

One person wrote: "Please do one in Bournemouth!"

While another said: "Need one in Wolverhampton!"

And a third added: "Next drive thru at every service station!"

The restaurant added: "This new concept has been years in the making and we’re very proud of this incredible project in partnership with @eg.groupltd."
