Driving Instructor Debunks Myth That People Think Will Make Them Fail

A driving instructor has revealed one of the most common things that people reckon will fail them their test, but it actually won't. Tune in to the video below to see if you're one of those people.

Driving instructor and TikTok user @theyounginstructor decided to answer once and for all the question - 'what's something that feels illegal but is perfectly legal'.

Then, he went on to explain: "A lot of my students cross their hands when they're handling the steering wheel and go 'oh god, I shouldn't have done that, should I?'

"You can do it.

"No-one cares, OK? The examiner doesn't care, the police don't care, as long as you're in full control of that steering wheel, happy days."

There you have it, there are loads of ways to fail a driving test, but that ain't one of them.

Because this is the internet, of course, there are a load of people who believe they know better than someone who literally does this as a job every day of their lives.

One such person commented: "I've been told by four different instructors that it's not allowed."

It feels illegal, but isn't necessarily.

Hilariously, he responded: "They're incorrect."

Others just joined in to tell their own stories, with one person writing: "My instructor used to tell me off for crossing my arms and steering with one hand.

"Almost crashed taking a tight corner and feeding the wheel."

OK, without being a driving instructor we can't advise on driving with one hand, but you'd have to assume that two would be better, unless you're using the gear stick.

Just stay in control of the car, right?

Most people just took the piece of advice at face value and seemed pretty pleased about it.

Let's hope he's right because otherwise, these guys are going to fail.

One said: "Thanks so much, I sometimes do [cross my arms] and [I've been] blaming myself so much.

"Now I feel comfortable with it."

Others have started suggesting other things that feel like they should be illegal but are legal.

Drinking at the wheel - or before - is definitely out of the question.

The results of that particular question are variable, to say the least.

One suggested 'driving 120mph in a 20 zone' which is definitely very illegal.

Another said: "Filtering. Cars hate it when bikers do it."

Now - however annoying it might be for car drivers - that is actually legal.

A third suggested: "Not using indicators."

Seriously guys, if you take one thing from this, please use your indicators.
