Jack Black sings legendary song to young School of Rock fan who has rare disease

While attending the charity event ‘Layla Paige and Friends Walk for TrinityKids Care’, the actor burst into 'The Legend of the Rent'.

Jack Black has proved once again he's one of the nicest guys in Hollywood after he sang a School of Rock song to a teen with a rare disease.

The Tenacious D singer has captured some gleeful nostalgia that’s sure to pull at the heartstrings.

NME reported that at the charity event ‘Layla Paige and Friends Walk for TrinityKids Care’, which Black hosts to raise funds for child hospice programs in Southern California, he encountered a young fan by the name of Abraham.

As the actor bent down to meet the 15-year-old, who suffers from a rare mitochondrial disease called Pearson syndrome, he revealed to Black that his favourite movie was the 2003 classic School of Rock.

As yes, a man of very fine taste.

The teen proceeded to tell him that he especially loves Black’s song ‘The Legend of the Rent’.

The Jumanji actor was visibly touched by the child’s kind words and thanked him, before busting out into the song.

At one point, Abraham even joined in, impressively spitting out a few bars without missing a beat.

The video has left many users moved by the sweet interaction, as one person wrote: “Jack being a super hero of hearts to this kid!”

Another agreed: “Jack never let the fame get to him, genuine human being.”

A third commented: “You can see how natural it was for him to come down to this kid’s level. This makes me tear up…”

While another shared: “This man is a national treasure.”

According to Variety, Abraham’s mother, Veronica, told Upworthy: “It’s almost been a week since the meet and Abraham is still talking about how he got to meet Jack.”

The mother also posted a follow-up video to her TikTok, thanking the A-lister and the community for their ongoing support.

She said: “Thank you to everyone who has liked our video and shared and commented.

"It wouldn’t have been possible with Mr Jack Black.”

She continued: “A little bit about Abraham he is in palliative care with Trinity Care; and they’re the ones who invited us to this event, and we went, and we were able to make one of Abraham’s dreams come true.”
