Thief Tries To Snatch Phone From Judo Expert In Street And Immediately Regrets It

The judoka was filmed detaining the suspected thief on the ground in the city of Manaus

A judo fighter fiercely pinned a suspected thief down to the ground after he reportedly attempted to steal her phone. Watch below as the man is swiftly put in a very professional-looking chokehold:

The unnamed judoka was filmed detaining the potential thief on the ground in the Brazilian state of Amazonas on 25 March.

Local reports suggest that the suspect snatched the woman's phone off her while she was waiting for a rideshare cab.

The suspect then ran off down the street with her phone.

After perhaps thinking that he got away with it, the woman managed to catch up with him and pin him down to the floor.

The judo specialist was then able to detain the suspect on the ground with a rear naked choke, according to local media.

The woman held the suspect at the scene until the cops arrived to take him to the police station.

In the video, the young have-a-go hero is seen sitting calmly on the ground while holding the topless suspect in a neck lock.

The suspect is then handcuffed and the woman shoves him away from her in disgust and gets to her feet as onlookers clap and cheer.

An onlooker apparently kicked the suspect as he lies on his front on the tarmac.

There have been no further updates on the investigation.

A similar incident occurred in 2018 when a man attempted to rob a jiu-jitsu fighter - but instead ended up crying on the floor.

The incident was captured in the Jorge Teixeira neighbourhood of Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil, reports The Mirror.

Sabrina Leite, 22, was in front of her house when two men on a motorbike approached her.

She says one of the men, later identified as Magdeel da Silva, 18, demanded that she hand over her phone.

Sabrina said: "I could feel they didn't have any [weapons], they just arrived saying 'pass the phone'.

"I saw they didn't have anything and that's why I reacted. If they had been armed I would never have reacted."

She then threw her phone into the house and chased the suspect down after he tried to escape by running away.

Sabrina says her neighbour was passing in his car and stopped to assist her.

"He was running away," she said.

"My neighbour went after him in the car and reached him. Then I ran and immobilised him with a sleeper hold, I lay on the ground and put him in an arm lock."
