The child of a porn star who has worked in the industry for three decades has opened up on what life has been like living with someone in the industry.

Obviously, the industry has some perks – like money, for example – but it also must be quite a strange world to experience when it’s your mother on the other side of it.

Now, as part of a Reddit AMA – Ask Me Anything – the child of a veteran porn star has thrown wide the doors on what it was like for her, and the responses have been interesting to say the least.

She started things off by writing: “My mother has been in the Adult Entertainment (Porn) industry for about thirty years now. AMA”

The Redditor grew up around the adult industry because of her mother.

And the questions came in thick and fast, with the first pertaining as to whether she was shocked upon discovering what her mother did.

“I was a bit shocked when I found out the extent of it,” she explained.

“Like I was aware that my mother had posed nude (She was in playboy at one point)

“But I had not payed [sic] enough attention to relize [sic] she had done hardcore stuff.”

Asked if she was ‘cool’ with her mother’s profession, she responded: “Sure, I’m pretty sex positive in general, the industry has problems just like any other.”

After telling the rapt Redditors that she found out about what her mother did at around ‘7th-8th grade’ she then revealed that another student at her school attempted to show her a video on his phone, before getting suspended.

And of course, others want to know about the money.

To one such question, she said: “Well easiest way to answer that is to just say that my mother’s net worth is a few million dollars.

“She made a lot of her money by doing non-sex related stuff in the industry."

“Sex toy deals, undergarments, starting and running her own studio.

“She actually had a pretty popular late night radio show at once point. (Think sex advice type show)

“So we were pretty well off, not like super rich but you know, nice house outside London and a house in the USA well off.”

She also revealed that her father also works in industry, but primarily on the business side.

It's a lucrative industry for some, but not without problems.

When asked about the lessons she has learned from her mother, the poster said: “1: Sex can be really special and intimidate thing you want to share with someone you care about… but it can also JUST BE SEX and both are totally fine.

“2: No job is going to make you a screw up if your [sic] not, no job is going to make you get you s*** together if your [sic] don’t have it together already.”

That sounds like a fairly well-rounded take on it all, at least.
