Catching a cricket ball at a game is one of the best things that can happen to a fan.

You have to be in the right time and place and ensure you keep your eyes on the prize otherwise you could end up with a nasty injury.

But imagine catching a cricket ball in your goddamn drink.

That happened to one lucky viewer at Hobart's Bellerive Oval during the Big Bash League match between the Melbourne Stars and Hurricanes.

English batsman Dawid Malan whacked a six in the 16th over and a kid tried his best to grab it.

As the camera zoomed in on the catcher, it was quickly realised that the boy missed his moment, however the ball had landed in the most obscure place.

When the camera eventually zeroed in on the ball's location, a bloke next to the kid raised his beer glass to reveal it had landed straight in his drink.

To celebrate the incredible moment, the man downed the drink and the crowd went wild.

People loved the moment on social media, with one person writing: "XXXX couldn't have dreamed of such a good ad."

Another added: "I can't believe how Aussie that is."

A third said: "I hope they don't shine the ball how I use to with a bit of underarm sweat."

Hopefully the punter gave the ball to the kid who clearly was dying to take it home.
