Cristiano Ronaldo Is Home With His Family Following Shocking Death Of Baby Boy

The football star has thanked everyone for their support and says he is 'grateful for the life that we’ve just welcomed into this world'.

Cristiano Ronaldo is now back at home with his family following the shocking death of his baby boy.

The Manchester United legend has thanked everyone for their support over the past few days.

"Gio and our baby girl are finally together with us," he wrote on Facebook. "We want to thank everyone for all the kind words and gestures.

"Your support is very important and we all felt the love and respect that you have for our family.

"Now it’s time to be grateful for the life that we’ve just welcomed into this world."

The world was devastated when the footballer announced on social media that he and his partner had lost their newborn baby.

He and Georgina explained how they were dealing with 'the greatest pain that any parent can feel'.

"Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness," they wrote.

"We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support."

The couple concluded their tragic post by asking fans for 'privacy at this very difficult time'.

"Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you," they wrote.

Ronaldo and Rodriguez announced in October that they were expecting twins. He is already father to four children, twins Eva Maria and Mateo, eldest son Cristiano Jr. and youngest Alana Martina.

Ronaldo became a father for the first time in 2010, but has never revealed the identity of Cristiano Jr’s mum.

The football world has been incredibly supportive of Ronaldo and his family following the baby's death.

When Manchester United played Liverpool this week, fans launched a tribute in the seventh minute of the match to honour Ronaldo. There was also a minute's silence held.

Ronaldo's club also publicly commented on the tragedy, saying in a statement: "Your pain is our pain, @Cristiano. Sending love and strength to you and the family at this time."

Liverpool added: "All of us here at Liverpool FC send our deepest condolences to you, Georgina and the family."

While nearby Manchester City added: "Everyone at Manchester City sends our deepest condolences to you and Georgina."

Ronaldo's teammates also paid tribute, with Marcus Rashford writing: "Thoughts are with you and Georgina brother I’m so sorry."
