Krispy Kreme is giving away free doughnuts for all the people that had a birthday in lockdown.

The offer is available in the UK and Australia. Australians who had a birthday between 13 March and 13 July are eligible, while those in the UK with birthdays between 23 March and 3 July can claim a free doughnut.

Australians are entitled to a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts today - all they have to do is bring their ID to a participating store.

Meanwhile, those in the UK with lockdown birthdays can grab themselves a single Original Glazed doughnut.

The offer is available all week in the UK, with a minimum purchase value of £1.55, so from today (13 July) until 19 July, all you have to do is show a member of Krispy Kreme staff that your birthday lands between 23 March and 3 July.

Four million Australians and 22 million Brits have celebrated their birthdays in lockdown - so plenty of people can grab free doughnuts to make up for their less-than-impressive birthday celebrations.

Richard Cheshire, Krispy Kreme UK and Ireland CEO, said: "We started making our iconic Original Glazed doughnut from the USA in 1937.

"Ever since, we've always been committed to making people smile. For our birthday this year, we want to bring smiles to the millions of UK doughnut fans who feel like they missed out on celebrations this year by offering the joy of an Original Glazed treat on us!"

It's also worth pointing out that the deal isn't available at stores in Ireland or branches of Selfridges, Bentalls, Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Asda, Moto, Universities, Welcome Break, Roadchef, Shell, EuroGarages or Center Parcs - nor does it include Krispy Kreme mobile events, Krispy Kreme Occasions or online orders.

Krispy Kreme Australia CEO Andrew McGuigan said: "From toilet paper presents to zoom parties to less-than-impressive cakes, there's no doubt birthday celebrations have been lacking these last few months.

"So, we've decided to share some joy with all those who missed out, with our biggest doughnut giveaway to date."

Sadly for people in the Northern Territory and South Australia, the offer won't be available. Nor will you be able to claim the box if you go through food delivery apps, 7-Eleven, Jesters or BP travel centres.

People in Victoria will still be able to get their grubby mitts on a box, however they will have to head to drive-thru stores in Fountain Gate, Fawkner and Bulleen.
