Mourners Turn Funeral Into Impromptu Rave To Give Woman ‘A Send Off Like No Other’

Mourners Turn Funeral Into Impromptu Rave To Give Woman ‘A Send Off Like No Other’

A DJ started playing heavy beats at the cemetery and the unique funeral has divided opinion.

A funeral in the UK has gone from sad and sombre to dancing and raving after a DJ started playing music at the cemetery.

Loads of people say they don't want their official send-off to be a drab and depressing affair, and instead wish for it to be filled with laughter and a celebration of life.

One woman's funeral at Witton Cemetery in Birmingham certainly appeared to be that and more.

Mourners gathered at the British cemetery to send off a woman known only as Katty last week.

A DJ set up his turntables in the middle of the graveyard and started busting out some heavy beats for everyone gathered.

Mourners dressed in black were seen smiling and laughing while dancing around people's graves as loud dancehall music pumped out from portable speakers.

A video, obtained by Birmz Is Grime, was posted onto social media, where it has divided opinion.

Some people praised the funeral organisers for putting on a fun send-off for Katty.

One person commented: "What a lovely tribute, I'm sure Katty would be smiling down. Nice to see a proper celebration of someone's life."

Another added: "Rip my friend #katty you had a send off like no other #weloveyou"

A third person wrote: "A beautiful and fun-filled way to say goodbye to a loved one. Bringing your own DJ is brilliant too. What a send off."

A different user said: "This looks like the most fun funeral ever. I'm sure your friend Katty would be proud."

However, not everyone was backing the style of funeral.

Many took issue with the idea that mourners were dancing around a place that is meant to be treated with respect.

A person who viewed the video wrote: "Na I don’t rate it, look how many peoples graves get stepped on."

Another put: "Kinda f***ry still when old Ethel turns up to water her late husbands flowers only to find 30 man strong stomping on her orchids."

A third added: "Everyone deserves a good send off, but levels of disrespect shown to others already at rest there feels real uncomfortable.

"That's why we have wakes, dance to till you can dance no more then, don't be jumping on other peoples loved ones graves."
