There's no better way to tune out all the chaos that's currently going on in the world than by chilling out and watching a goofy comedy you don't have to think too much about.

Everyone knows there's no better choice for this particular niche than anything by Adam Sandler.

Whether you're a fan or not, there's no doubt that the star has well and truly earned the title of 'the king of Netflix' with the news that viewers have spent a whopping 2 billion hours watching his particular brand of comedy flicks.

According to JoBlo: "Netflix says that customers have spent over two billion hours watching Sandler's films on the streamer since The Ridiculous 6 premiered in 2015."

Netflix

Crunching the numbers on their biggest hits of 2020, Netflix have also revealed that Sandler's latest comedy Hubie Halloween - a light-hearted Halloween comedy starring a slew of stars who have previously Sandler films - is their highest-ranking original movie of the year in the US.

The news comes after the comedy icon signed a four-year deal with Netflix in 2017, which has since proved to be a lucrative move for the streaming giant.

Since nabbing the deal, along with Hubie Halloween, Sandler has produced Murder Mystery, The Ridiculous 6, and Sandy Wexler, all of which have proved to be a hit among fans.

But it's not just Sandler's fresh films that are winning over viewers.

Happy Madison

In a poll conducted by LADbible in September, it was the funnyman's 1996 film Happy Gilmore - about an unsuccessful ice hockey player who discovers a newfound talent for golf - that was found to be the fan favourite among Sandler's 64 films.

Earlier this year, Sandler was even tipped to receive an Oscar nom for his role in Netflix's Uncut Gems, which, if you told us that back in the late '90s we'd probably have a hard time believing.

It doesn't look like the comedian is set to slow down anytime soon either, with the news that he will return to the drama genre for a role in Spaceman of Bohemia, an adaptation of Jaroslav Kalfař's 2017 novel that follows an astronaut sent on a solo mission to space.
