A humble millionaire has revealed he will donate 99 per cent of his fortune so that his kids stay motivated.

Ah, nepo babies, take note.

Dave Fishwick is a working-class, self-made millionaire who launched his own bank during the 2008 financial crisis.

His company, Burnley Savings and Loans, is a community bank helping local businesses to thrive.

Despite once making a living off selling minibuses, the millionaire has promised to donate most of his fortune rather than leaving it to his children.

He added that he doesn't want to ‘burden’ his children with his riches.

BBC

He told the Daily Star: “It’s so important that the children work hard because I have seen lots of people who have become successful and wealthy and they spoil their kids and the kids have no understanding of money whatsoever.

“I am going to give 99 per cent of my wealth away when I pass away, whatever week, year it is. Hopefully it’s a long time away.”

Fiswick added that as he once worked three jobs, he developed an outstanding work ethic, something he wants to pass on to his children.

He said: “It’s important that you have that work ethic and I think hard work puts you where some good luck will find you. My kids don’t always agree with that but they are good kids.”

But when it comes to Fiswick’s own ego, the entrepreneur shared in a separate interview with the Daily Star that his wife usually keeps him grounded with corned beef hash dinners.

He said: “When I have been away somewhere, down for a big meeting or a TV event or I am filming something and I come home and say ‘oh I saw so and so’ and she will say ‘never mind that nonsense Dave, do you want corned beef hash or cottage pie for tea’ and it grounds you immediately.”

Well, there you have it a little: a humble cottage pie goes a long way.

Fishwick has also gained a fair bit of media attention as the 2023 Netflix film Bank of Dave, which at one point trended number one on the streaming platform, is based on his real-life experiences.

The film stars James Bond actor Rory Kinnear in the role of Dave, as well as Joel Fry and Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton).
