I personally don't know much about Chinese pop music but it looks fascinating. I would never have guessed that androgyny was all the rage over in China, but apparently it is.

There's a new pop band in town that is already gaining fans before they release their first song - that's pretty impressive however you cut it.

The band is called FFC-Acrush and it made up of Lu Ke Ran, Peng Xi Chen, Lin Fan, An Jun Xi and Min Jun Qian -- all girls at birth but who identify as genderless. According to Mashable, all the members prefer not to use gender pronouns and instead go by "meishaonian," a term that's gender-free and means "handsome youths" in Chinese.

FFC stands for Fantasy Football Confederation - a big group that all the band members are in. The A stands for "Adonis" - the Greek god of male beauty. And "crush" basically explains itself.

It's a pretty new band, but they already have 900,000 followers on Chinese social platform Weibo (it's the Chinese version of Facebook) and they haven't even released their first music video yet! They were formed last year by their manager after the success of pop artist Li Yuchun who has a rather androgynous style. The five band members were chosen because they don't identify as any specific gender - an unusual way to put together any band.

In China, fans call attractive looking males "husbands" and that's what they've referred to FFC-Acrush as in recent years, androgyny has become more acceptable and marketable.

The band aren't allowed to comment on their sexuality, but they have all said that they often get mistaken for boys and will respond to all their fan mail but of course wouldn't engage in a relationship with any fan. They're all in the their 20s.

The band is expected to release their first music video in April - can't wait to hear their sound!
