A DJ in Costa Del Sol was filmed spitting booze out over clubbers before passing around the bottle for people to drink.

Footage caught at Kokun Ocean Club in the holiday resort of Torremolinos has been shared across social media, where the DJ has been condemned for his actions.

In the clip the tattooed DJ, who has been named as Fali Sotomayor, can be seen putting the bottle of Jägermeister to his mouth and taking a swig before spitting it out on the people dancing around him.

He then began pouring the bottle into the mouths of the clubbers below him.

In a statement released on behalf of Les Castizos, which Sotomayor is part of, the DJ said: "We accept total responsibility for this incident and are ashamed and sorry about what happened.

"Kokun Ocean Club is in no way responsible for our actions and totally respected social distancing."

He went on to say he had acted 'irresponsibly' before adding: "We feel indebted to the thousands of colleagues, artists, members of the public and other people who feel upset about what they've seen."

According to local media the clip was filmed on 7 July but it has only spread across social media this weekend.

In the statement, which was seen by Europa Press, the DJ said the footage wasn't recent and was shot when the measures 'were not the current ones'.

A spokesman for Malaga hotel association Mahos added: "This shows a totally negligent attitude in what is a pandemic. We will never defend such an attack on public health."

On Friday Spain reported 3,092 new positive coronavirus cases, its biggest increase since it lifted its national lockdown in June.

Since last weekend, Brits returning from Spain have been told they must self-isolate following a spike in cases in the country.

UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock told Times Radio: "We have seen the case rate in Spain go up sharply. That is why we had to take the action that we did.

"We moved fast on Spain and I am very glad we did. Since we took the action we did, the case rate has continued to rise.

"We need to make sure we protect everybody in this country from the virus coming back again from Europe as it did in March."
