A man was found in a car 75 feet underwater, 12 years after having been reported as missing.

Timothy Edward Robinson, from Oregon, US, vanished on 26 November 2008, having last been seen driving his silver 2008 Mazda sedan.

But despite efforts to find him, the 56-year-old wasn't seen again for over a decade.

That was until the crew from the YouTube channel Adventures With Purpose pulled his car out of the Willamette river during a live stream of an environmental clean up on 26 May last year.

In footage shared to the group's channel, Mr Robinson's silver car can be seen being recovered from the water.

Watch it below:

Inspecting the vehicle as it is pulled slowly onto the shore, the clip sees Adventures With Purpose host Jared Leisek making the tragic discovery.

"Call the cops, call the cops, call the cops!" he shouts at the other volunteers.

"So this got real, real quick. We were actually doing a live as we were pulling the body out, we were showing a little bit of the car and there's a body inside of it."

Following the distressing discovery, Jared then explains the magnitude of the find.

He says: "We were actually doing a live stream at the time, when we were doing our normal environmental clean up, we were pulling the car out of the river and at that moment in time we realised there was actually a body inside of it.

"That body belonged to Timothy Edward Robinson, who actually went missing 12 years ago."

After the footage was shared on social media, family members of Mr Edwards commented on the post to thank the group for providing them with some closure.

Mr Edward's niece, Jessica, wrote: "I've never watched your channel before, not until we got the call from detectives a few days ago asking if we knew a Timothy Robinson, and well, it's been 12 years since he became missing. This is my dad's brother, my uncle.

"I wanted to personally thank you for bringing closure to this family. It's been a long time and now he can finally be put to rest. Thank you and God bless."

Fans of the channel also heaped praise on Jared and his team for making the discovery.

One viewer commented: "I hope this family has peace now, knowing that their loved one has been found. God bless you! Thanks."

While another added: "Thank you for all you do. Helping a family get closure. This breaks my heart."
