All NHS staff are being offered free holidays in Ibiza next year, as a token of thanks for their ongoing hard work throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
The news comes after the Ibizan government agreed to back an initiative launched in March called Together for Healthcare Heroes, which will be setting healthcare staff up with free accommodation.
Juan Miguel Costa, tourism councillor for Ibiza, told local paper Diario de Ibiza that the scheme aims to 'compensate those who have looked after us, risking their lives in many cases, and who deserve that we all do our share to make sure they have holidays that meet high expectations'.
The free accommodation will be available outside the holiday hotspot's peak season, meaning workers should be able to take up the offer in April, May and October 2021.

So far, around 60 private properties have already been put forward, along with rooms at the Atzaro, OD Hoteles, Concept Hotel Group and Aguas de Ibiza hotel chains.
According to the Together for Healthcare Heroes website, the organisation is on a mission to find 'at least 1,000 best in class accommodation providers in Europe' to provide free accommodation for healthcare staff, so that they can enjoy a holiday next summer without having to fork out for lodging.
A statement said: "It all started with a simple idea early in March. How can we say thank you to those fighting for the lives of our families, friends and communities?
"How can we say thank you to those putting their own lives at risk for us? Together we are driving change by celebrating and rewarding those who put our community, family and friends first during the COVID-19 outbreak.

"Unprecedented times highlight exceptional people. We thank those who we have trusted with our lives, by gifting them our homes and hotels in Ibiza and across Europe."
In a similar move, Turkish Airlines also recently said it would be providing a large disount for NHS staff, with workers able to register for 40 percent off flights for themselves and up to three others they're travelling with.
Announcing the offer, a spokeswoman said: "Turkish Airlines started a new campaign for the healthcare workers who are working selflessly to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
"With this campaign, all healthcare workers working around the world will be able to fly at 40 per cent discount with their tickets purchased from Turkish Airlines webpage or mobile application."
That offer lasts until 18 July, but can be used to book tickets for flights up to May 2021.
