Steve-O got himself in a little bit of bother this week when one of his stunts backfired.

The Jackass star duct-taped himself to a billboard in Hollywood, with the emergency services having to be called out to get him down.

Video shared on social media show the 46-year-old pinned to the huge poster at the intersection of Cahuenga Boulevard and Yucca Street, Los Angeles.

In a clip from a video taken by the stuntman's phone, Steve-O - real name Stephen Glover - assured his fans that he was totally safe and that he had been secured to the billboard by a team of people.

He says: "I'm attached to a billboard right now. And want to emphasize that a team of real professionals rigged everything safely.

"There is zero chance of me falling, and it's important to me that we not waste any valuable city resources on this. I'm happy to just hang out."

But over an hour-and-a-half into the crazy stunt on Thursday morning (13 August), a group of firefighters came out to cut him loose from his ties and get him down safely.

Steve-O added: "They say that they're not sure I'm committing any crimes. I don't think so. I paid for the billboard, man.

"Hopefully, nobody gets too upset."

Sharing the whole thing on his Instagram account, Steve said he was trying to promote a new project, called 'Gnarly'.

The caption to his post read: "It's called Gnarly and, If you're over 18, check it out at steveo.com! Thanks!"

Los Angeles Police Dept. Commanding Officer for Hollywood Patrol Division Brian Bixler later told Los Angeles Times that it took a lot of work to get the television star free.

He said: "A lot of resources [were used].

"We're trying to keep them minimum for the fire department. But definitely the fire department has a lot of rigs out here, and it takes a lot of resources away from what we should be doing - make people safe."

It's understood that no charges were filed against Steve-O.
