People who haven't panic bought their toilet paper in Brisbane, Queensland might be shocked to find there could be a very, very minor shortage in the city.

A truck carrying thousands of rolls of the stuff burst into flames on the Gateway Motorway near Murrarie in the capital city overnight.

Thankfully, the driver managed to get out unscathed however the same can't be said for the loo roll as a lot of it was burnt to a crisp.

Queensland Police wrote on social media: "Northbound lanes on the Gateway Motorway at Murarrie are closed due to a truck on fire. Delays expected. Please avoid the area."

It comes as Australians are panic buying toilet paper by the dozens in supermarkets across the country. The Land Down Under has been collectively shocked by some of the scenes playing out at stores, with some people greedily grabbing as much toot paper as possible just in case they get the coronavirus.

It's a strange development considering there have been no warnings about a shortage of the product because of the virus and Covid-19 doesn't usually cause patients to need the bathroom more than usual.

Authorities have been warning people against stockpiling toilet paper and some stores have even introduced restrictions.

People shopping in Woolworths will only be able to buy four packs each while one Aldi store in Sydney said customers could only buy one unit of one thing.

Police were even called in yesterday to a Westfield shopping centre in Sydney's west over reports someone had 'pulled a knife' on another customer in the toilet paper aisle.

New South Wales Police has confirmed an incident took place and Woolworths added to Yahoo News that a confrontation broke out between two customers.

A spokesperson for Woolworths told 10daily: "We're aware of an incident between two customers in our Parramatta store earlier today. Police were called in response to the incident by store security. The store remains open and is trading as normal."

Kleenex is assuring us that there is plenty of loo roll to go around.

One of the country's largest producers of toilet paper, Kleenex, released a statement saying that there is no need to panic buy their product as there is plenty of stock to go around and there will be for the foreseeable future.

"Australia, don't panic!" the statement read. "We are working around the clock at our mill in South Australia to keep the supermarket shelves stocked with Kleenex Complete Clean toilet paper."

'As you can see, we won't be running out any time soon."
