Woman Unexpectedly Becomes Getaway Driver After Date Robs A Bank

And you thought your Tinder stories were bad

Up until this point, it was safe to assume that the title of the 'Worst Date Ever' went to the girl who got stuck throwing her actual poop out the window. Awkward.

But this could all change with the arrival of a new story, as a man was caught robbing a bank - and forcing his date to be the getaway driver, as CNN reports.

And you thought poopgate was bad.

It all started back in 2016 when an unnamed woman from Massachusetts, US, decided to meet up with Christopher Castillo, a man she'd met on a dating app.

After getting herself ready, she went to pick up Castillo from his parents' home in Rhode Island before hitting the road with her new beau by her side.

Although he drank wine from the passenger seat - the first crime of the night - the woman didn't think too much into it.

The same applied when he asked her to stop by a bank, as the woman quite reasonably assumed he wanted to get some cash out.

However, things took an unexpected turn when Castillo came running back to the car, sweating in sunglasses and a hat, while carrying a gun and $1,000 (£770) in cash.

"F**king go," he told her, leading the poor getaway driver to 'panic' and do as she was told. She continued to drive until flashing signals from a police car caught up with them and she stepped out of the car while Castillo tried to hide.

It didn't take long for officers to have the robber in handcuffs, before the police searched the car to find a .44 calibre handgun, some sunglasses, a hat and a wallet containing the stolen cash.

This week, Castillo was finally charged for his crimes, pleading guilty at the Bristol County District Attorney's Office to armed robbery and three counts of assault and battery on a police officer.

As a result of his off-the-cuff bank job, he's landed a five-year jail sentence. As for the woman, she's not been charged - although she's probably issued herself a lifetime ban from using dating apps.
