Donald Trump mocked after calling someone 'very average mentally person' in bizarre rant

Donald Trump called out US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell at a NATO conference

Donald Trump has been getting the absolute mick taken out of him after he mocked someone else in a bizarre rant.

There’s a lot to be said about US President Donald Trump.

Trump has been splashed across headlines in recent weeks due to the US' involvement in the conflict between Iran and Israel, which saw the POTUS slam the nations for allegedly breaking a ceasefire agreement and not knowing 'what the f**k they're doing'.

He also visited the Netherlands for the 2025 NATO Summit, which saw world leaders gather to make decisions 'that will make NATO an even stronger, fairer and more lethal Alliance'.

The Summit saw Trump called 'daddy' by NATO chief Mark Rutte in an incredibly odd moment, and he was even allegedly mocked by the Queen of the Netherlands.

So, the news has been pretty full of Trump stuff in the past week.

But now, it seems like he’s been mocking others and people have since turned it back against him.

It all began when Trump spoke on 25 June at the NATO summit in The Hague and slammed Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, claiming he had a ‘low IQ’.

“He’s an average mentally person… low IQ for what he does,” the POTUS said of Powell at a press conference. “I think he’s a very stupid person, actually.”

Trump seems to have been an 'enemy' of Powell since taking office, and even slammed him and the Federal Reserve after both were unhappy about slashing interest rates.

However, Trump nominated Powell in 2017 and he was then nominated during Joe Biden’s tenure for another four-year term until May 2026.

“Yeah, I know within three or four people who I’m going to pick,” Trump said when a reporter asked him if he had begun interviewing potential replacements for Powell’s job.

He added that Powell’s term ends ‘pretty soon fortunately, because I think he’s terrible’.

Clearly, Trump thinks of himself as a smart man, but people on social media found it quite an ironic statement to call someone else ‘stupid’ when being unable to grasp ‘basic grammar’.

Political commentator Brian Krassenstein wrote on X of the jibe: “Nothing screams ‘stable genius’ like calling someone ‘a average mentally person’ while butchering basic grammar like a confused 6th grader mid-book report.”

He added: “Trump calling Powell ‘a average mentally person’ is the linguistic equivalent of tripping over your own shoelaces while mocking someone else's walk.”

Someone else wrote: “*TRUMP: ‘POWELL IS A VERY AVERAGE MENTALLY PERSON’

“Not a typo.

“I don’t know what to tell you.”

Meanwhile, Republicans Against Trump said on X: “Donald Trump on Fed Chair Jerome Powell ‘He’s terrible… He's an average mentally person... Low IQ for what he does’. Classic Trump projection.”
