Comment Trump made to Zelenskyy when he arrived to meeting in suit revealed

Donald Trump made a comment to Volodymyr Zelenskyy when he arrived to their meeting yesterday (18 August).

There had been much talk ahead of his arrival over what he’d be wearing following the previous ‘suit’ comments - you know, because that’s the big important thing for a man whose country is currently at war.

When the Ukrainian and US presidents met at the White House back in February, things got pretty heated, and a reporter even took aim at Zelenskyy for his attire.

But yesterday’s meeting was arguably more successful regarding both talks and the change-up of clothing (if that’s a measure of success anyway).

Zelenskyy said the pair had ‘very good talks’ in Washington and is now ‘ready for bilateral with Putin’. Oh, and he also served up a clap back for the reporter who ‘attacked’ him last time.

At the February meeting, Brian Glenn saw it important to ask: “My second question for President Zelenskyy, do you ever, why don't you wear a suit? Why don't you wear a suit?”

The pro-Trump White House Correspondent and partner of Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene continued: “You're the highest level in this country's office and you refuse to wear a suit. Just want to see if you, do you own a suit?

“A lot of Americans have problems with you not respecting the dignity of his office.”

There had apparently been asks from the White House ahead of yesterday’s meeting for Zelenskyy to wear a suit.

Sources told Axios that officials had said it ‘would be a good sign for peace’ but that they didn’t ‘expect him to do it’.

But a video shows Trump greeting Zelenskyy yesterday as he stepped out of the car in a jacket (previously described as ‘suit-style’) and a black shirt.

The US president can be overheard saying: “I do not believe it… I love it, you look…” as he gestured at the Ukrainian’s attire.

Zelenskyy had previously said that he would ‘wear costume after this war will finish’ and served up a clapback for Glenn when they crossed paths again yesterday.

“First of all, president Zelenskyy, you look fabulous in that suit. You look good,” the reporter told him, with Trump pointing out it was Glenn who ‘attacked’ him last time.

With a knowing smile, Zelenskyy said ‘I remember’ before turning to Glenn: “You are in the same suit. I changed, you have not.”
