Prince Harry makes damning rare statement following meeting with King Charles

Prince Harry has made a damning statement about his recent trip to London after reports surfaced of a less than friendly visit with his father.

The two royals were seemingly attempting a reconciliation earlier this month when the 41-year-old claimed that King Charles no longer speaks to him after losing a Court of Appeal battle over security arrangements.

Prince Harry has been estranged from the Royal Family ever since 2020, when he and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down from their senior royal duties.

Having moved to Canada and then the US with Meghan, the prince lost all of the security he was previously entitled to as a working royal, something he said put his family at risk.

And after a bombshell interview with the BBC earlier this year, it seemed as if there was no real way back for Harry.

But he travelled to Clarence House in Westminster on 10 September for a meeting with the King, something which The Sun reported as 'distinctly formal', with Harry allegedly feeling like an official visitor rather than a family member.

However, a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex has now hit back with a damning statement regarding these claims, suggesting that they were invented to try to sabotage any reconciliation between him and his father.

Harry's spokesperson said in a statement to PEOPLE: “Recent reporting of The Duke’s view of the tone of the meeting is categorically false.

"The quotes attributed to him are pure invention fed, one can only assume, by sources intent on sabotaging any reconciliation between father and son.

"Presumably, those same sources have also chosen to disclose that gifts were exchanged.

"While we would have preferred such details to remain private, for the sake of clarity, we can confirm that a framed photograph was handed over, however, the image did not contain the Duke and Duchess."

The King was reportedly presented with a framed photograph which included a picture of his grandchildren, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, who he has not seen in over three years.

The meeting was also the first time Harry and Charles had met publicly since February 2024, which perhaps marks an important step in what many are hoping will be a full resolution to the problems they have had in recent years.

Following the criticism of their reports, The Sun said: "In his statement, Prince Harry confirms the exchange of gifts, including a family photograph.

"The office of the Duke of Sussex was given full right of reply yesterday in advance of publication and opted not to give a response to The Sun’s carefully sourced account of the meeting.

"We have today updated the online article to include his new statement.”
