Paul Burrell has claimed that Princess Diana's ghost has sent him a 'chilling one word message'.

Burrell, who was Diana's butler for 10 years, says she is a regular presence in his life.

Apparently, the late royal has been visiting Burrell in his dreams for years at the Tudor mansion he shares with husband, Graham Cooper, in Cheshire.

The couple recently welcomed cameras into their home for Celebrity Help! My House is Haunted after experiencing wafts of tobacco and shadowy figures.

But Burrell says he was shocked to hear not only Diana's 'giggle' but one chilling word which was apparently caught on recorder.

The voice apparently said the words 'sorry' and 'France'.

“I don’t understand why it would say France other than the fact that the Princess died in France and the fact I went to France to bring her home,” Burrell said.

“I had been introduced to this world before by the Princess.

“She was heavily involved in spirituality. Mediums, psychics, astrologers... and I witnessed it from the edges. I watched her and she would giggle afterwards and say ‘you don’t believe, do you?’ and I would say well I’m not sure.”

Princess Diana died on August 31, 1997, from injuries she sustained in a car crash at the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris, France.

Burrell says that while he never truly believed in spirits, he thinks that if Diana was trying to communicate with him, she would.

“If my Princess wanted to tell me something, I think she would come to me," he said.

Burrell also claimed that the late Queen Elizabeth II also believed in ghosts and would never visit Glas-allt-Shiel, the cottage on the lake at Balmoral, without her beloved dogs, apparently saying they 'sense it before I do'.

“At the time I thought to myself, my goodness Queen Elizabeth II believes in ghosts and she is a very intelligent woman so there must be something there," said Burrell.

“But I never saw one myself. I never saw one at Kensington Palace, never saw anybody coming down the staircase with their head under their arm. I wasn’t tuned in.”

In the TV show, Burrell speaks with psychic Ian Lawman who says Diana consulted him two months before her death.

“I think she was responsible for Ian coming here,” says Burrell.

“Because he was the connection to that world that brought him into my orbit. I thought that was typical - that’s what she would do.

"She’d have a joke and a prank about it. I thought she was playing with me. I could hear her giggle and it is unmistakable to me. As if she is having a bit of fun on the other side.

"And then I remembered she said to me ‘One day you’ll believe what I am telling you’.”
