Oscar Pistorious 'competing under alias' as further details of what he has been doing 12 years on from guilty verdict emerge
More than 12 years after Oscar Pistorius was found guilty of murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, new details have emerged about how he is rebuilding his life after prison.
Pistorius, now 39, was released on parole in January 2024 after serving more than eight years behind bars.
Once one of the world's most famous Paralympians, he now reportedly lives a quiet life with his wealthy uncle in Pretoria, South Africa.
Locals say he keeps to himself and is often seen at a nearby café with his miniature poodle, Maggie.

Many people no longer recognise him because he now has greying hair, a beard and usually covers his prosthetic legs with trousers, the Daily Mail reports.
Although he can no longer compete at the highest level, Pistorius has reportedly stayed active. According to the outlet, he plays padel and has taken part in local Ironman races under an alias.
Last year, he completed a 70-mile event in Durban and finished third in the physically challenged category.
One resident told the outlet: "We don't want to know about him around here.
"He's like a ghost. He's disappeared off the face of the earth and most people are happy for it to stay like that.
"Apparently he has a job now, although no major company would go near him."
Sources told the Mail that Pistorius has found work with a sound engineering company, although locals say many businesses still want little to do with him.
He continues living in his uncle's secure home, where he is said to have access to a private gym and keeps a low profile.
“They keep pretty hush hush,” one resident adds.
His relationship with his father, Henke, has reportedly broken down after disagreements over the court's murder verdict. Henke has continued to insist his son was treated unfairly by the justice system.
Henke said on Piers Morgan Uncensored that the government failed to protect white people amid racial tensions in South Africa.
“Oscar will one day tell his story. He is at the moment very sad and very sorry about what happened,” he said.
“What happened is not what came out of the court. I am one of hundreds of people that will say that this case will stand as a very negative example of jurisdiction of justice in South Africa.
“I’m already in trouble with Oscar as I’ve said too much. He was forced to just accept that he is guilty and he’s a murderer, which is such a pathetic insult to law in South Africa.
“He’s been hurt and broken and that’s what he believes now… that he is guilty.”
On 14 February 2013, Pistorius shot and killed 29-year-old model and law graduate Reeva Steenkamp at his home in Pretoria, South Africa.
He fired four shots through a locked toilet cubicle door using a licensed 9 mm pistol, hitting Steenkamp in the head, arm, and hip.
His parole conditions will remain in effect until his total sentence officially expires in 2029.
