Finland's Prime Minister Sanna Marin has denied taking drugs after footage leaked online showed her singing, dancing and drinking at a party.

The footage of Marin, 36, was filmed a couple of weeks ago when approximately 20 people, including TV hosts, an MP, a celebrity stylist and an influencer, attended the event which allegedly took place in two apartments and continued in two bars.

In the clips, unidentified people at the party could be heard talking about 'flour'; a slang term used to refer to cocaine in Finland.

Marin argued the clips are 'private videos' and are 'not intended for the public', but insisted she hadn't done anything illegal at the event and said she has 'nothing to conceal or hide'.

"I haven't used drugs, I haven't used anything other than alcohol," she said in the wake of the leak.

When asked if there should be a police investigation into the event, she commented: "I still don't know that anything illegal has happened. It would hardly be a police matter then.

"I danced, sang, and partied - perfectly legal things. And I've never been in a situation where I've seen or known of others [using drugs]."

The prime minister's security detail were in the area on the day of the party, but Marin said they did not come into the apartments themselves.

When it moved on to the bar, she said: "Even there I sang, danced and hugged my friends and drank alcohol."

Marin said she was 'still going to be friends with [her] friends' in spite of the leak and denied seeing anyone else at the party using illegal substances.

Karoliina Tuominen, a radio host who was in attendance at the party with Marin, also denied allegations that anyone had taken drugs and argued there was nothing 'strange' about a 'good group' of adults who were having fun.

Marin is now facing calls to take a voluntary drug test, with Mikko Kärnä, a MP for the Centre Party, claiming 'half of Finland' suspects the prime minister of taking drugs after seeing the videos.

However, Marin pointed out she has a separate family life and work life with 'free time to spend with [her] friends', the same as 'many people' her age.

"I am going to be exactly the same person as I have been until now and I hope that it will be accepted," she added.

The PM has been in power since December 2019 and has continued support from her party Social Democratic Party.

LADbible has reached out to Marin for comment.
