Harvard scientist reveals formula 'to prove God is real'

Dr Willie Soon referenced a formula first thought up in 1963

A Harvard scientist has revealed the mathematical formula which he argues proves the existence of God.

Science and religion doesn't usually go hand-in-hand, although last year a team of science buffs did suggest that two of the miracles Jesus performed in the Bible were actually 'true'.

One of science's most notable names, Professor Stephen Hawking, made his views on religion clear throughout his incredible life but another big name in the field has now provided his own evidence for the existence of a god.

Dr Willie Soon is an astrophysicist and aerospace engineer, who worked for a long time at the Harvard and Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics, so he's probably pretty damn clever.

Speaking recently on the Tucker Carlson Network, Dr Soon presented his formula, which he believes provides significant evidence for the presence of a god.

An interesting educational glow-up for Carlson, who just three years ago was complaining about M&M's not being 'sexy' anymore.

Dr Soon went into detail about the 'fine-tuning argument', which put simply, suggests that the universe's conditions and physical laws are the perfect base for life to exist, and that it's very improbable that these laws were created entirely by chance via the big bang.

For example, had gravity been just slightly weaker, then the planets would not have formed, whereas if it has been slightly stronger, the planets would have collapsed into a black hole.

The formula Soon makes reference to was originally created by Cambridge University mathematician Paul Dirac, known as the 'father of antimatter'.

In 1963, he wrote that: "It seems to be one of the fundamental features of nature that fundamental physical laws are described in terms of mathematical theory of great beauty and power, needing quite a high standard of mathematics for one to understand it.

"You may wonder: Why is nature constructed along these lines? One can only answer that our present knowledge seems to show that nature is so constructed. We simply have to accept it.

"One could perhaps describe the situation by saying that God is a mathematician of a very high order, and He used very advanced mathematics in constructing the universe."

Speaking on Carlson's podcast, Soon discusses Dirac's theory as one of many which point towards the likelihood of a god. He said: "There are so many examples of the ever-present forces that allow us to illuminate our lives. God has given us this light, to follow the light and do the best that we can."

Dr Soon's argument sounds like the high-brand version of the teleological/design argument for God that we probably all learned in our religious education lessons back in school, but then again he's a hell of a lot smarter than most, so maybe we can take his word for it.
