Certainly not the Euros record England's Three Lions want to hol

England helped break an unwanted record following their dismal group performance against Slovenia last night.

It's fair to say that Gareth Southgate's team haven't had the strongest of starts to Euro 2024 so far, scraping past Serbia with a 1-0 win before later drawing against Denmark.

Their performances haven't gotten any better since then, with last night's 0-0 draw against Slovenia in Cologne seeing the team slapped with a very unimpressive record.

Despite their uninspiring performances, England still managed to top Group C with just a measly five points and two goals scored.

The rest of the teams in Group C weren't any better in front of the net either, with just seven goals being scored by England, Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia combined.

This means the group are the joint lowest scoring group in Euros history, tied with the Euro 2016 group which featured Germany, Poland, Northern Ireland and Ukraine.

Ouch.

Not content with just first place, England also feature in both of the joint second lowest scoring groups in the competition - from 1980 and 1992.

For fans keen to forget England's lacklustre performance and move forward, the good news is that we've qualified for the knockout stages and will face the third placed team in either Group D, E or F.

The opponent is yet to be confirmed, with the Three Lions most likely to face the Netherlands on Sunday afternoon.

If England were to face a team from Group E, the opponents could be one of Romania, Belgium, Slovakia and Ukraine - as all teams are currently tied on three points.

Regardless of the opponent, Gareth Southgate's team will have to improve their performance if they want to succeed in the knock out stages and end their disappointment in international competitions.

Unsurprisingly viewers haven't been convinced by England's performances so far, with several fans sharing their frustrations across social media.

"ITV should cut their losses and stick some cartoons on for the last twenty minutes," one bored viewer wrote.

"This is the most boring game of football I've seen... since England played last," a second added.

"Try anything. Put a couple of fans on," a third person joked.

"The worst group in international tournament history. Not a single team deserved to go through," one person tweeted alongside a photo of England's group after the match had ended.
