Joe Hart responds to going viral as Euros viewers questioned if he had 'gaffer tape' on arm

There was plenty to talk about in England's win over Serbia, mostly about Joe Hart's fashion sense...

England's 1-0 win over Serbia in the Three Lions' first game of Euro 2024 gave people a lot to discuss.

Not so much about the football, a Jude Bellingham header in the first half was enough to secure victory for England and the less said about the second half the better.

Then there's the football philosophers trying to ponder what the purpose of Phil Foden is without Pep Guardiola, while fans were asking the real questions.

Namely, why on earth did Joe Hart look like he had big bands of gaffer tape wrapped around his arms?

Hart was part of the match day broadcast and his distinctive arm tattoos caught a lot of attention.

Opinions on the body art were mixed as some wondered 'what the hell has Joe Hart done' while others said they 'love the creativity with Joe Hart’s tattoos'.

Meanwhile, former England right-back Micah Richards, who was Hart's Manchester City teammate, took no prisoners in his punditry.

Richards couldn't help but rip into his former teammate, pausing the Euro 2024 natter to say: "Can we talk about Joe's tight t-shirt for a minute though?

"He's got extra medium there, the guns were pumping."

Rio Ferdinand chipped in to say that Hart was 'curling that mic' like a dumbbell every time he raised it to speak, while Gary Lineker suggested that the goalkeeper was 'trying to compete with you, Big Meeks' in reference to Richards.

Fortunately, Hart appears to have enjoyed the jokes as he posted a clip of the discussion about himself to his Instagram stories, captioning it: "I suppose I've been welcomed."

Hart's tattoos date back a few years, and as a keeper who often plays with short sleeves they've regularly poked through.

Meanwhile, in a series of social media posts from 2019 which explain where he got them from, Hart previously thanked his tattoo artist Hanumantra.

He wrote: "You are the man @hanumantra thank you, this is the only time of year I could take this on so I appreciate you fitting me in and smashing it!!

"I got my armour on now... let's see what's next.

"Not everyone's taste I understand that but this definitely represents me and thank you for making it happen."

So now you know what the deal is with Joe Hart's tattoos.

The former England goalkeeper, who racked up 75 appearances for the national team, announced his retirement from football after a three-year spell with Celtic.
