Fan doing £250,000 Wembley crossbar challenge told cheerleaders he'd take them on a date if he hit it

Fan doing £250,000 Wembley crossbar challenge told cheerleaders he'd take them on a date if he hit it

A rugby fan won a quarter of a million pounds doing the crossbar challenge.

This is what happened when a rugby fan was randomly selected to do the crossbar challenge at Wembley in an attempt to win £250,000 - and said he'd spend the money taking the Saracens cheerleaders out for a date.

Pretty expensive date.

Rugby fan Stuart Tinner was one of three supporters out of 46,281 at the stadium to be picked to do the challenge, and the first to do it.

Stuart’s attempt took place at half-time during the Saracens vs South Africa game in 2009, with eager fans waiting to see what happened and if he could do it.

Before he took the kick, and we’ll add in there that he did so in his socks, he told he'd take all the Saracens cheerleaders out to dinner if he won.

The 24-year-old at the time, who was working in the Job Centre, took the kick from 30 metres away.

But what happened next, no one would have put their money on…

Stuart became £250,000 richer that day after kicking the ball with his socks on, and hitting the crossbar.

"This is the second best day of my life - the best day was when I lost my virginity."

However, he had a couple of moments of agony after his kick, as he didn’t drop kick the ball which was what was specified.

However, not long after, the whole stadium witnessed Stuart with the big cheque in his hands, and it was a moment never to be forgotten.

Talking to the Daily Mail, he said: “This is the second best day of my life - the best day was when I lost my virginity.

“I support Saracens but I don't get to see them very frequently, but you can put me down as a season-ticket holder now.

“I have already spoken to my parents and they told me to keep my feet on the ground.

“They saw it on television.”

Chief executive Ed Griffiths said: “What we try and do at Wembley is to provide a great game of rugby and extra - and with a guy winning quarter of a million at half-time, we had something a lot of people will remember.”

Fans watching the video branded Stuart a ‘legend’ and were happy with his win.

One said: “He said before he takes the shot, if he wins he'll take the cheerleaders on a date, he is a legend lol.”

Another said: “I was there, unbelievable night.”

A third added: “This was brilliant and the guy had lipstick kisses all over him off the cheerleaders, hahaha.

“I was so made up for him.”
