Researchers suggest that we're only seeing a fraction of what AI is capable of

A top AI company has shared the list of jobs at risk after Bill Gates issued a warning about which jobs might well be safe from the technology.

There's no doubt that, for better or worse, artificial intelligence is playing a far bigger part in our lives as more and more people rely on it for various tasks or questions.

Despite its lack of dependability at times, you only need to ask Google a question to see that AI answers go straight to the top of the feed, and it's becoming the go-to in many different fields.

Naturally, when AI can translate paragraphs in seconds or give you historical answers that might take weeks of researching, it was perhaps always likely that companies would see the technology as a viable replacement for human workers, especially when considering that AI doesn't need paying and doesn't request any annual leave for their dog's birthday.

But that now leaves people who have trained for years in positions such as historians and translators seriously at risk of losing their jobs, something which was highlighted by Microsoft's list of at-risk jobs.

And now Anthropic, the artificial intelligence company that emerged in 2026, has suggested that a recession for 'white collar workers' is a very scary reality.

It suggests that older, highly educated and well-paid workers will be most at risk as it becomes more acceptable for AI to replace humans at work.

As you might expect, those who work with numbers and computers are also at risk, as Anthropic suggest that intelligence models are already capable of handling a reported 94 per cent of their tasks.

Office and administrative roles are in similar trouble, with Anthropic claiming that its AI software Claude could handle 90 per cent of that role, even if it might not be capable of organising the office parties as well.

Jobs that require a physical presence are seemingly safe for now, with AI unlikely to replace cooks, bartenders or dishwashers any time soon, unless we're all comfortable with eating microwaved meals on plates that still have the stains that only a human can get out.

Bill Gates seemingly disagrees though, as he claimed recently that only three types of jobs will be safe from AI in the future, in case you weren't already worried about being replaced.

He suggested that coders, biologists and energy workers are the only professions where AI won't be likely to takeover any time soon, while journalists and writers also featured alarmingly high on Microsoft's previously published list of jobs in real trouble.

Remember, if you ever see any pro-AI content in my articles without any jokes about the technology, then I've probably already been replaced by a high-tech clone.
