The Jellyfish Bob is the new hairstyle that is taking over the planet

Even Nicole Kidman has been spotted rocking this wild new 'do.

A strange new haircut called the jellyfish bob appears to be the latest style trend, with even Hollywood A-lister Nicole Kidman jumping on the bandwagon.

Named for its uncanny resemblance to the boneless sea creature, the style is essentially two layers of hair.

The outer layer of hair is cut quite short in the style of a bob, and the inner layer is kept long in an almost mullet-like hairdo.

But instead of a mullet and its 'business in the front, party in the back' nature, the jellyfish-inspired style sees the bob cut all the way around the head.

And it is going gangbusters on social media.

The new 'do is making waves on TikTok, with videos under the jellyfish bob hashtag amassing more than 43 billion views.

TikTokkers have taken to the popular social media platform to show off their new locks.

Fashion influencer Dear Tina shared a 360 degree view of her luscious locks to show off her jellyfish bob.

One TikTok user said: "I’m obsessed with this hairstyle. I LOVE IT."

A second TikTokker commented: "I've cut my hair into this even though Mom didn't approve because she doesn't want to ruin my hair on my graduation day but I slayed on that day."

A third added: "[The] best thing is that if you don't think it looks good on you just chop it off."

Some, however, were not so taken with the latest 'in' look.

One user with the TikTok username 'Meatprison' devoted a whole video to roasting the latest style.

"What the hell is a jellyfish haircut and why does it look dumb," they posted.

Their video included the text: "I love when TikTok recommends me videos of some stupidly named new trendy haircut because every time I click on it I'm shown videos of the ugliest looking hair I have ever seen in my entire life."

Well, Meatprison made their feelings clear.

Others agreed, with one TikTok user adding: "Some haircuts are only meant for famous people."

A second said: "Jellyfish haircut is just a bowl cut with a tail. Defs not for me."

But it's not just Gen Z that are taken with the jellyfish bob.

The latest hot hair trend has become so big that Nicole Kidman sported it for a recent cover shoot for Perfect magazine.

The Hollywood A-lister, 55, looked incredible in a Diesel mini skirt and halter-neck crop top as she posed with her ripped arms flexed for the images.
