TOWIE star 'heartbroken' after doorman dies 'while trying to break up a fight' at his restaurant

Elliott Wright closed his Costa del Sol restaurant out of respect for the doorman

Former The Only Way Is Essex star Elliott Wright has been left ‘heartbroken’ after his doorman died reportedly trying to break up an altercation between customers.

Following the fight on Saturday 15 April, Wright, 43, closed his Costa Del Sol-based restaurant, Olivia’s La Cala, for two days.

According to the Mirror, the former TOWIE cast member was forced to shut the famous eatery. This was due to Spanish police investigating the scene after the incident took place.

At this moment in time, no arrests have been made by the Civil Guard in Malaga. However, an investigation into the altercation at Wright’s restaurant is still taking place.

Following reports that a 55-year-old man had fallen unconscious after being hit in the head, police and paramedics rushed to the restaurants.

It was reported that the doorman had attempted to stop an argument at the beachfront eatery involving a few of Wright’s customers before getting into an altercation.

Following the injury, the unnamed man was rushed to Malaga Regional University Hospital. However, he sadly died in the early hours of Sunday after failing to recover from his head injuries.

Sources at the scene said the doorman hit his head off the floor after attempting to eject rowdy customers.

“The local reports talk of a group of people fighting but it was between two people,” says the anonymous source.

“The doorman went down as he tried to eject one of two men.”

On Monday, Wright broke his silence on the altercation that took place at his Spanish diner.

In a statement, Olivia’s said: “This weekend we lost a much loved and valued member of our team.

“Our hearts are broken and we have closed the restaurant today and tomorrow out of respect.

“We are supporting our staff and the family whilst awaiting news of further investigations.”

LADbible has contacted Olivia's La Cala and the Civil Guard for a comment.

This is the second time in two years that Olivia’s has been forced to shut up shop and turn away customers.

In April 2021, the building was targeted in a suspected arson attack.

However, despite CCTV footage allegedly being handed to the police, investigations into the cause of the blaze are still ongoing.

Elsewhere, Wright himself made headlines back in 2022 when he and his wife Sadie Stuart, 31, announced they were expecting their second child.

Elliott and Sadie married in 2017 and are expecting their second child this year.

The pair took to Instagram to break the news and penned, “We have hoped and we have prayed, and now we are so excited to say, another little darling is on the way.

“Over 5 months of growing you, forever to love you… We can’t wait to meet you our darling baby.”

The TV personality and Stuart are already parents to son Billy, four. Wright is also a father to Elliott Jnr, 16, and Olivia, 13, from a previous marriage.

At this time, it is not known when Wright and Stuart’s second child is due.
