A man has been arrested following the death of a doorman at a restaurant in Spain.

In the early hours of Sunday (16 April) morning, Jose Rafael Pisani Pardo suffered a blow to the head trying to stop a fight.

The 55-year-old had allegedly been involved in an altercation between two customers outside Olivia’s La Cala, which is owned by The Only Way Is Essex star Elliott Wright.

Sources claimed that the doorman hit his head off the floor while attempting to eject them.

“The local reports talk of a group of people fighting but it was between two people,” says the anonymous source.

“The doorman went down as he tried to eject one of two men."

After sustaining his injuries, Mr Pardo was rushed to Malaga Regional University Hospital for treatment.

However, it was later announced that the father-of-two had sadly died.

According to local reports, officers from the Civil Guard in Malaga have now arrested a suspect in relation to Mr Pardo's death.

No other information has been made available at the time of writing, though it's understood the man was arrested at around 2pm today (18 April).

Following news of Mr Pardo's death, Elliott Wright's restaurant - which closed as a result of the police investigation - shared a statement.

It said: “This weekend we lost a much loved and valued member of our team. Our hearts are broken and we have closed the restaurant today and tomorrow out of respect.

"We are supporting our staff and the family whilst awaiting news of further investigations."

LADbible has contacted Olivia's La Cala and the Civil Guard for a comment.

This is the second time in the past couple of years that the restaurant has been forced to close and turn away customers.

In April 2021, the building was targeted in a suspected arson attack.

However, despite CCTV footage allegedly being handed to the police, investigations into the cause of the blaze are still ongoing.

And this comes almost a year after a British man was killed following a fight outside a nightclub in Majorca.

Tobias White-Sansom was out with his family when he was 'pulled to the floor and beaten' by security staff at Boomerang nightclub on 25 July.

Video footage taken from witness that night shows the 35-year-old lying on the floor while bouncers hold him on the ground.

The father-of-two is then seen being dragged out of the club and up to the top of a flight of stairs, where he is thrown to the ground and pinned down again by police, who allegedly 'stood' on him for 30 minutes.

Tobias was arrested and placed in an induced coma, and five days later, his life support was switched off.
