A baby was born with so much hair that strangers often mistake it for a wig.

When little Marissa was delivered, her mum Alessandra McCurry, from Glasgow, couldn't believe how beautiful she was.

But while she was most taken aback by the newborn's bright blue eyes, the 32-year-old mum said everyone else was more interested in her mop.

Looking back at the birth, Alessandra said: "I took her back to the babies' room, everyone in the room was just shocked - I was showing her off.

"I was going on about 'her eyes, her eyes, her eyes,' and everyone else was like 'just look at her hair'. She's so beautiful."

Shortly after she was born, the new mum started blow-drying her little girl's hair, much to her delight.

Alessandra said: "She loves it, she absolutely just loves it."

Footage of the young mum whizzing three-week-old Marissa with the hairdryer shows the little tyke fidgeting as the air blasts through long curls.

And almost a year after she came into the world, her thick locks have shown no sign of slowing down, with her mane just getting longer and longer.

According to her mum, she already has a "wee bob" at just 10 months old.

But Marissa isn't the only one with a full head of hair, her brother Markis was also born with an impressive barnet.

Giving birth to him on Halloween, at just 25 weeks, Alessandra calls Markis her "little miracle baby".

And when she takes the two of them out for a walk around the city centre, the mum-of-two says they get a heap of attention from passers by who are stunned by their impressive dos.

And according to Alessandra, many just can't believe that Marissa's hair is real, with plenty of strangers saying it looks like "adult's hair".

She said: "Everywhere we go it's just constant. I hear people in front of me of the street - 'did you see that baby's hair' and people say 'you've got to get her into modelling, she's so beautiful'."

But Marissa and Markis aren't the only

Two proud parents in the US have compared their newborn baby to a 'mini Wolverine' after he was born covered in hair.

Nancy Rivera gave birth to her son Jonathan during the early hours of 28 January at United Hospital in Saint Paul, Minnesota, but both she and her fiancé Anthony Lopez were taken aback when they realised their child not only had a thick head of jet black hair, but also hairy arms, legs and shoulders.
