As Alton Towers gets set to reopen to visitors this weekend, the popular theme park has shared a video showing what people can expect as they walk through the gates.

Alton Towers was one of many attractions forced to close earlier this year as the country went into lockdown to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.

However, after months of patiently waiting, adrenaline junkies can finally get their fix once more as the long-running theme park reopens this Saturday (4 July), following the successful relaunch of Alton Towers Gardens last month.

The site has had the all-clear from Visit England, which awarded the park a 'We're Good to Go' industry charter mark, which verifies the resort meets government guidance, and that it has all the required health and safety processes in place.

Alton Towers will reopen with the 'majority' of outdoor rides and attractions, while some indoor attractions will remained closed until further notice.

Emma Catterall, Divisional Director at Alton Towers Resort, said: "It is fantastic that we can now confirm that our Theme Park and Accommodation will reopen from 4th July.

"We can't wait to get back to doing what we do best, and we're working hard to make sure that we're implementing the new hygiene and distancing measures in a way that will still allow our guests to enjoy a memorable, fun visit to Alton Towers Resort."
