B&M customers are being urged to return a popular household essential item due to concerns that it could shatter and cause injury to anyone using it.
The retailer has been forced to pull the seasonal Harvest Print Glass Mug, which went on sale earlier this year on 21 July. Concerns were raised that the glass could shatter when boiling water is poured into it. Given that the main function of a mug is to drink hot drinks, often straight from the kettle, the mug could pose a significant safety risk.
B&M branded the decision to recall the mugs a 'precautionary measure,' due to a 'potential risk of the base breaking when filled with hot water'.
A spokesperson for the company said that any customer who had purchased the mug should 'retain the packaging and return the product to a B&M store' for a full refund.

The Sun reports that the affected batch code is 423987, and anyone who has questions or thinks they may have one of the recalled products is urged to contact B&M.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause," B&M said in their recall notice.
In the UK, retailers are legally obliged to recall any items that could pose a safety risk under the General Product Safety Regulations, which stipulate that producers and distributors must ensure products are safe and must take corrective measures if risks are discovered later on. This includes halting the sale of the item in question and recalling those that have already been sold.
This comes after another retailer was recently forced to recall a range of children's swim vests, telling shoppers to 'stop using them immediately,' over drowning concerns.

The swimming vests, which were sold in TK Maxx, were available for purchase between April and August 2025.

In August, TK Maxx said in an official warning notice on social media: "The product has an incorrectly applied CE mark as it has not been tested to the required safety standards. It may not be suitable for use as a buoyancy aid and, if relied upon as such, could pose a risk of drowning."
Meanwhile, the UK government's website said: "The products present a risk of drowning as it has not been appropriately conformity assessed to demonstrate that in can perform as required."

The vests in question had patterns which included whales, dinosaurs, sharks, starfish, unicorns, crabs, fish, juice floats or seahorses, and 'may or may not have goggles attached'.
"If you purchased the product, please stop using it immediately and return to any TK Maxx or Homesense store. You can get a full refund or replacement." TK Maxx said.
