A dad was caught having a hilarious one-to-one chat with his infant daughter after forgetting a crucial detail.
The new father had gone to wish his daughter goodnight, and clearly had other things on his agenda for the evening once she was asleep.
In a clip posted on TikTok, the dad is caught in the hilarious one-sided conversation.
Leaning over the cot to wish his daughter goodnight, the hopeful dad explained that he was trying to get lucky with mum that night, and would she mind not crying.

While the dad may have thought he was being crafty in his polite request to his daughter, there was one crucial factor that he didn't take account of.
And you really would think a new parent would remember this.

It is of course the presence of a baby monitor - a common tool used by parents to keep an eye on their little one.
And a camera from the baby monitor caught the dad redhanded.

Wishing his daughter goodnight, he said: "You can be quiet, so maybe I can sleep with Mummy tonight."
He added: "Try not to wake us up, ok, cause Daddy's trying to get his leg over, OK?"
In a hilarious comment, he added: "You'll be extra quiet if you hear Mummy making noises, you have to go back to sleep, OK?"
When his daughter shut her eyes, he said: "Here's your game plan, don't let me down!"
The mummy in question is Maria, who posted the viral clip onto social media with the caption: "Not the cute moment I thought I was going to capture," adding: "Anyone else’s partner prep the baby before bed?"

And it seems that the dad's hopes may have been dashed for that evening.
"She only 4 months old," Maria said, adding: "No new company for her any time soon!"
Several viewers took to the comments on social media to share their amusement at the dad's pep talk.
One person joked: "See the way the baby went to sleep at the end like she understood the assignment!"

Another wrote: "This is so strangely sweet. I love it," while a third replied: "And I’m rooting for daddy over here."
Someone even suggested that the clip be preserved for posterity, commenting: "Keep this recording and play this at their 21st birthday party!"
And it seemed Maria agreed as she replied: "What a great idea… then she will understand as to why there are more babies and less money to spend on her!"
