Defence Secretary issues chilling warning as Britain told to be ready for war in 1,000 days
Defence secretary Wes Streeting has revealed that Britain must be ready for a potential war to occur within the next 1,000 days as the government issues emergency stockpiling guidance.
Brits have been told to urgently 'prepare' for potential food shortages as well as disruptions just days ago.
And now, it's war.
Households in the UK were told to 'stay prepared' on 22 October, with things like severe weather or attacks on the country being potential causes.

The warning urges people to keep a supply of non-perishable food and bottled water in case of a blackout, food shortage or cyberattacks from the Russia.
In light of the warning, Streeting issued a further warning in an article for The Telegraph, that as soon as 2030, war could be upon us.
He wrote: “Our adversaries’ willingness to harm us is not new. What has changed is there capacity. By 2030 their force strength and war economy could put them in a position to attack.
“That gives us a little over 1,000 days to complete our mission: to be ready with our allies to fight and win.”
He added that to 'prevent the worst, we have to prepare for it.'
In the previous food warning, all households are being urged to stock up to nine litres of bottle water and three days’ worth of food.
Known as the Be Ready campaign, Streeting said: “In the face of those threats, which are not hypothetical but real, and not somewhere else but increasingly here, we have to step up and take seriously our national resilience as well as our national defence.
“It’s really important that we ask households and businesses are they prepared?”.
He added that we must prepare in the event of 'state-sponsored terrorism' from Russia.
Aside from the food and water, things like blankets, cash, a first-aid kit, a battery-powered torch and a wind-up FM radio.
Dan Jarvis MP, Security Minister, further explained: "Those who can follow this advice should follow this advice."
He added: "By taking simple steps to be ready for everyday emergencies like severe storms, people can reduce pressure on emergency services, helping them prioritise people who need more support in an emergency.
"This is just the sort of community-focused campaign the UK needs to improve our resilience as a nation. It will bring us into line with European counterparts, where advice like this is a normal part of everyday life."
Prime Minister Andy Burnham also weighed in on the importance of being prepared for an unexpected event.
He told the BBC: “It’s not about panicking...It’s about just taking sensible measures to have enough in the house to tide you over should there be a difficult situation”.
Streeting said in any case, it must be taken seriously, especially when it comes to the risk of conflict with Russia.
“It’s really important we ask households and businesses, are they prepared?” Streeting said. “Are they ready? Do they know how they would respond in the event of every day challenges that might manifest themselves?"
